Can I Eat Brownies On keto?

A coffee shop brownie will have in excess of 50 grams of carbs in them. As delicious as they are this means that not only are they NOT keto-friendly due to the ingredients, they would soon knock you out of ketosis.

That’s why you need to get creative in the kitchen and whip up these beauties. They compete with any shop bought brownie.

These are firm on the outside and spongy in the middle, they just melt in your mouth and are perfect with a cup of tea.

With keto-friendly ingredients, these keto brownies can become a staple within your diet, without any guilt or risk of being knocked out of ketosis – sounds good right?

Keto Brownie Ingredients

Let’s move onto the keto ingredients for these delicious keto brownies.

If you have been living a keto lifestyle for any period of time you will probably have these ingredients in your kitchen cupboard anyway.

Almond Flour

Almond flour forms the base of these keto brownie, as it does a lot of keto baking.

I haven’t tried these yet with coconut flour. This would offer a nut free alternative.

As soon as I have I will let you know the outcome!

You can buy almond flour in most supermarkets in small packets. These are perfect if you haven’t tried almond flour or keto baking before and want to give it a go but do not want to spend too much money experimenting.

Once you are happy that keto is for you and that keto baking is going to be part of your life, you can buy almond flour online. It’s a lot better value than what you can buy in the supermarket and in my opinion, a lot better quality.

What Sugar To Use?

Erythritol is the perfect sugar to use in these keto brownies. I have experimented with other sugars, but I always go back to erythritol.

Check out this article for more on keto sugars you can use in your baking.

What Chocolate Is Keto Friendly?

A typical 40g chocolate bar has 20g of sugar and 25 grams of carbs; meaning you would already be over your carb count for the day!

Not only that they are full of non-keto sugars which will spike your GI levels meaning that you will get a brief ‘rush’ of energy, followed by a massive sugar crash.

This cycle will leave you wanting one thing – more sugar, so you can start the cycle again. That’s the roller coaster that sugar (carbs) will take you on and that a keto way of eating breaks.

If you are in the supermarket, you need to be looking for at least 85% coco chocolate that is made with keto-friendly sugars.

The 90% coco one is slightly more expensive. I personally do not think that it tastes as nice – it’s a bit bitter for me, but try both and make up your own mind!

How Many Carbs Are In A Keto Brownie?

These specific perfect keto brownies have approximately 2g of carbs meaning that they can easily fit within your macros.

Not only are these great for keto-ers – they are also great if you want to feed them to children. They have all the taste of a brownie with none of the sugar to send them wild and then deal with the tantrums during the sugar crash!

The most important thing?

Enjoy your keto brownies!

  • 150g butter
